The workshop by Data Science and Policy Studies Programme is to help CUHK community to understand and facilitate the use of AI tools for study and research.

Instructors:
Professor Wilson Wong, Data Science and Policy Studies Programme, School of Governance and Policy Science, CUHK
Mr. David Kwan, Chief AI Consultant at ATGL & CEO at JobsTaylor; an expert in teaching non-technical professionals how to use AI to enhance their productivity

Do you feel buried under piles of lecture notes, research papers, and assignments? Are you tired of spending hours trying to organise your thoughts or analyse data? Do you over-relying on AI to write and often get criticised for producing work that feels too artificial or lacks depth? Do you wish there was a better way to manage your workload without sacrificing quality or integrity?

This workshop is here to help. We will show you how to make a good use of multiple AI tools to tackle the challenges you face every day as a student. Learn how to:

  • Capture and organise key points from lectures and readings efficiently, so you can study smarter and save time.
  • Accelerate complex research tasks, like summarizing academic papers, finding connections between studies, and brainstorming project ideas.
  • Make sense of data faster, so you can focus on drawing meaningful conclusions.
  • Collaborate with AI to write strong, original articles—without over-relying on it to the point where your work loses depth or authenticity.
  • Design presentations that grab attention and get your ideas across effectively with AI Presentation tools.
  • Use AI ethically and confidently to augment human intelligence and align with university policies.

By the end of the workshop, you will have the knowledge and strategies to use AI to work more efficiently and get better results in your academic work—without falling into the trap of producing “polished but empty” content.
