The United College Wu Chung Library (UCL) has gone through significant change as multimedia moved to video-streaming and the multimedia collection of DVDs had become less and less relevant. Visitor and borrowing numbers have been declining since 2011, and have only stabilized in the academic year 2015/16 with the move of the philosophy collection to UCL in the summer of 2015. Given this background, UCL was refurbished during the summer of 2018 to become a boutique humanities-based library on the upper campus, and distribute the multimedia collection to the relevant subject libraries. At the same time, we have catered for the need of students who are sophisticated users of technology and have high expectations of study space. The Library reverted to its original name as the Wu Chung Library on 1 July 2018.
