    This online workshop introduces the new Hong Kong Literature Database (Beta). Prof. Wong Nim Yam of the Chinese Language and Literature Department will give a brief history of the Hong Kong Literature Collection and Hong Kong Literature Database, and library staff will introduce the framework of the new platform, web portal, search capabilities, search with an author’s different name and future development.

    NVivo: A Powerful Tool to Address Your Research Questions

    This workshop will cover the key concepts on using NVivo for qualitative research. Starting with research questions, participants will gain ideas from making coding to reading abstracts to extending coding in journal articles as an illustration.     Co-organized by the Department of Fine Arts, Garden Streams and the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library, the exhibition Nàng Tự Do features the life of Vietnamese boat people in the detention camps in Hong Kong in the 1980s and 1990s and will be held at the University Library from 21 October 2020 - 16 April 2021. The exhibition aims to discuss the relationship between “refugees” and contemporary society by reviewing this unique piece of almost forgotten history.

    “Nàng Tự Do” means “Miss Freedom” in English. The title of the exhibition is drawn from Tự Do (Freedom Magazine), a magazine that was published by the boat people in the camps for their community at that time.     葉靈鳳先生家人將其珍貴藏書、照片、手稿及個人物品捐贈予香港中文大學圖書館收藏,由即日起於大學圖書館 香港文學特藏室 展出部分珍貴藏品,藉以展現葉靈鳳先生後半生的香港生活。葉靈鳳為香港重要文化人,本年度由三聯書店出版了《葉靈鳳日記》,由盧瑋鑾策劃及題箋,張詠梅注釋,日記橫跨1943至1974年,為研究葉靈鳳其人其作的可靠材料。是次展覽展出 《葉靈鳳日記》 所載與葉氏相關的重要研究資料,冀能讓參觀者從照片、日記手稿、藏書及檔案等,了解葉靈鳳的家庭生活、交往的文人圈子及日治時期的文化工作;觀賞「愛書家」葉靈鳳先生的藏書,一窺其買書軼事;並可⼀探《日記》從原稿整理出版為《葉靈鳳日記》的編輯經過。展覽歡迎公眾人士參觀,詳情可聯絡圖書館特藏組(電郵: spc@lib.cuhk.edu.hk )查詢。

    Over the years, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library has acquired very finely reproduced artworks made by specialists including the Nigensha Publishing Co. Ltd. in Japan and kept in the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library. The Collection consists of calligraphy and paintings reproduced from the Tang to the Qing Dynasty. The originals of these artworks are housed in different museums such as National Palace Museum, Taipei, Shanghai Museum, and British Museum. The artwork reproduction requires a high standard of professional and specialized skills.
