    Regional Chinese newspapers from the mid-20th century

    Universities Service Centre for China Studies (USC) Collection holds one of the world’s leading collections of valuable Chinese newspapers that will be digitised by CUHK Library as part of a landmark investment by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to expand global access to its unique resources in China Studies.

    Expected to take 36 months, the digitisation will commence with regional Chinese newspapers from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. 41 titles with over one million individual pages will be digitised, indexed by article-level, and placed on an open online platform ensuring the global scholarly community...

    Hou manipulates botany and spaces to produce delicate visions, which often embodies the solitude and absurdity of urban life. Lau’s works arise from daily observations and the visual power of written language. Themes such as religion, ancient civilisations and tribal culture shape her recent interest. Chui Suet Wai specializes in Chinese gongbi paintings and mineral rock painting, and depicts the feeling and emotion in her artworks. She seeks the possibilities of Chinese traditional painting and combine the popular culture in her artworks.

    Special Arrangement of USC Collection from 23 December 2021 to 28 January 2022 for Renovation

    USC Collection on 8/F and 9/F will undertake a renovation from 23 December 2021 to 28 January 2022.

    The opening hours of USC remain normal for the entire period, except that USC will be closed on 8 and 9 January 2022 (Sat and Sun) for construction works owing to safety reasons.
    During the renovation period, there will be some restrictions to access the facilities. Please refer to the table below for details: 8/F Zone A/B/C Normal access during opening hours Small areas will be closed temporarily for carpeting during the period from 17/1/2022 to 20/1/2022. 9/F Zone D/E/F/G

    Research Café on Carbon Neutrality (1) Climate Policy

    The 17th Research Café will be held on 17 Nov 2021 (Wed) . The series theme is Carbon Neutrality , which features a wide spectrum of studies by postgraduate students at CUHK that address various aspects of carbon neutrality, or net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, for managing climate risks. Each research café has a focused topic to facilitate discussion and collaboration. The focused topic of the coming Research Café is Climate Policy .     In the past decades, it is the generosity of many donors and the foresight of our predecessors that have contributed to the gradual growth of our collections. The Library organizes exhibitions with different themes regularly to showcase our Special Collections including rare books, manuscripts, artworks and archival materials. It is also hoped that this online exhibition platform serves as a time tunnel which gives insights of how wisdom and knowledge has been accumulated and transferred with the devotion of successive generations throughout our history. Please visit the virtual exhibitions to explore our unique collections.

    The online exhibitions will be released in batches. The first batch covers 10 exhibitions while other exhibitions will be released later.
