Description:

The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the proud owner of a very special collection of rare and antiquarian Chinese books of Chinese, Japanese and Korean origins. Some of these are original manuscripts and some are limited editions of block prints dating back to centuries ago. This collection of rare books has now been painstakingly analyzed, verified, and authenticated by specialists from the Shanghai Library, China.

In this bibliography, a total of 848 titles amounting to 14,018 volumes, which are the most valuable and rare works in the collection, are selected and annotated. The books are classified by the traditional Chinese classification system: “Jing”, “Shi”, “Zi”, “Ji” and “Cong”. Listed under each title are its author, edition, number of volumes, physical format and original publications details. Apart from being a useful reference tool for accessing the materials, this bibliography is also a valuable scholarly study of rare and antiquarian oriental publications.
