Overdue fines

The responsibility of returning library materials on time lies with the borrower. Overdue items accrue the following fines as stipulated in the Regulations of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library:

Fines will be charged on library materials returned late. Your borrowing privileges will be suspended if the maximum fine limit is reached. You may settle the fines with the payment methods listed below.
Damaged items
Borrowers who return books damaged beyond repair will be charged the cost of replacement in addition to the processing cost of HK$100.00 and any accumulated fines. Damaged books and marked pages should be reported at the Service Counter as soon as noticed.
Lost items
Items on loan should not be taken outside Hong Kong. Please contact library staff for any loss of library materials. The borrower of a lost item will be charged the cost of replacement in addition to the processing fee of HK$100.00 and any accumulated fines.

Simply login to My Library Record and click “Pay” under the tab “FINE + FEES” to access the CUHK Library Online Payment system. Click here for how to. If your Library Card has expired, you may login our Online Payment system to settle the library fines and fees. - Cash or Octopus Card
Pay by cash or Octopus Card at the Service Counter or Help Desk of any CUHK Libraries. - Alipay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, UnionPay Credit Card, Visa Card, WeChat Pay
Pay by Alipay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, UnionPay Credit Card, Visa Card or WeChat Pay at the Service Counter of the University Library. - Cheque or bank draft
Crossed cheque or bank draft (redeemable by local banks), payable to “The Chinese University of Hong Kong” shall be sent to:User Services
