Dr Yaoqing Zhang is a Senior Editor of Nature Sustainability and an Advisory Editor of npj Materials Sustainability. He handles research and opinion from the broad areas of green chemistry, clean energy, sustainable materials, and water presenting promising technological solutions to sustainability issues. He began his editorial career at Nature Communications where he covered a range of topics in energy chemistry. He obtained a PhD in chemistry from the University of St Andrews where he focused his studies at the interface of solid state chemistry, electrochemistry and ceramics. He is based in the Shanghai office.

Wei Fan received his BSc in Physics from Shandong University followed by a PhD in Physics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences studying electron transport in low dimensional systems. He then moved to RIKEN in Japan as a postdoctoral researcher to work on electronic and magnetic properties of oxide heterostructures. He started an editorial career at Nature Communications in 2015 covering many aspects of condensed matter physics, and worked briefly in the Science/AAAS publishing team before joining Nature Materials as an editor in January 2023. He handles manuscripts in applied and device physics including optoelectronics, photovoltaics, flexible electronics and neuromorphic computing.
